Roasted Poha Chivda is a popular Indian snack that is made with flattened rice, also known as poha. It is a crunchy, savory and spicy snack that is perfect for any time of the day. Here is a simple recipe for making Roasted Poha Chivda:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups thin poha (flattened rice)
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
  • 10-12 curry leaves
  • 2-3 dried red chilies
  • 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon amchur (dry mango powder)

Instructions:

  1. Firstly, heat a pan and dry roast the poha on low flame till it turns crispy. Keep aside.

  2. In the same pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and dried red chilies. Saute for a minute.

  3. Add roasted peanuts and stir for 1-2 minutes.

  4. Add salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder and amchur. Mix well.

  5. Finally, add the roasted poha and mix well so that the spices coat the poha evenly.

  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes on low flame, stirring continuously.

  7. Turn off the flame and let the chivda cool completely.

  8. Once cooled, store in an airtight container and enjoy as a snack anytime.
